Vet Check Up

Bella here…well my vet appointment on Friday went well.  It took a few visits after my amputation but I’m back to loving the vet’s office again.  Dr. Dye told my paw-rents how he thought I was a miracle but they already knew that.  I am holding steady at 130 which is fantastic because I really like food and my paw-rents don’t want me to gain too much weight since I’m a big girl already.  I also started a food supplement on Saturday called Immunity by Organic Pet Superfood.  It’s just a dried mushroom powder but apparently it’s suppose to be good for us and our human friends with regard to cancer prevention.  Momma asked the vet about it on Friday and he thought it would be fine to add to my diet.

I am fighting a bit of a bladder infection but Dr. Dye thinks it’s probably a side effect of the chemo so I’m on antibiotics for a couple of weeks and then I have to make another present for the vet to look at to see if the infection is gone.  No blood or crystals in my urine though which was good news for me and my family.  Keep being heroes out there and fighting the good fight…Bella hopping out!

  2. Bella, you look like a beautiful girl! I am glad to hear you are on the mend.
I am Ripple and I have 4 legs, for now. I haven’t used 1 of them for over a year and no one knows why! I have had several surgeries and every diagnostic test there is. I maintain a very good disposition and mostly a big smile on my face. My parents are concerned I still have pain and I had a 2nd MRI the other day. They might get rid of my leg. I’m pretty bulky so a bit worried about my other legs and joints. But you are bigger than I am!

  3. Bella! It’s wonderful to hear from you and know you’re doing great! Sorry about the bladder infection but that’s terrific they caught it early, you’ll be fine.
Meanwhile did you know we have another Saint in our community? Tonka is a new kid in town, you should stop by the Forums to say hello! I’ll let him know you’re here too.

Many many hugs and congrats coming your way!

  4. Thanks everyone!

Ripple, I’m not sure how to post to you directly we are still figuring out the blog thing…anyway I just wanted to say that us big kids do amazingly well on three legs. Bella had a lot of pain in her leg and just stopped using it with in a couple of days and then we noticed the bump. She was having a hard go the last week before surgery and we noticed the smile back on her face the first night she came home and the painful leg was gone. I know it’s a difficult decision and even more so when there does not seem to be a diagnosis. Bella is 7 so we were worried and continue to worry about her joints as well but could not think of the alternative since she was diagnosed with bone cancer and her remaining 3 legs were in fairly good shape. I just wanted to let you know from another paw-parent of a big pup that I know what you are going through and now being on the other end tell you that they adapt amazingly well. Sounds like Ripple has a fantastic attitude and will be everyone’s hero no matter what you decide. Looking forward to more updates.

  5. Thank you for making contact! It’s nice to know there is a community out there to support tripods and their people. I think we are probably moving toward that direction, there seems to be no medical reason that leg is not being used and most of the time she is fine hobbling around holding it up but once in a while there is a little whimper that is just heart breaking. I am glad to hear that big dogs do so well!
    Thanks again!
